Existential Analysis – Life Guidance in Berlin

There are moments in life when familiar paths no longer carry us.

Something has shifted — quietly or abruptly — and we lose direction and connection. Existential Analysis offers a space to pause, to listen more closely, and to reconnect with what feels meaningful and true within your own life context. It is a form of conversation that does not rush toward solutions, but stays with what matters.

What I Mean by Existential Analysis

Existential Analysis is a dialogical, value-oriented approach to personal guidance. Its roots lie in the work of Viktor Frankl and were further developed into a comprehensive therapeutic approach by Alfried Längle. In my work, I use Existential Analysis as a form of live guidance and counseling — not as psychotherapy. The focus lies on understanding personal life situations more clearly, experiencing inner freedom even in difficult circumstances, changing what can be changed, and finding a personal stance toward what is given.

At its core, Existential Analysis invites simple yet profound questions:

  • What is valuable for me here, in this moment?
  • Where do I feel inner consent — and where do I not?
  • What kind of relationship do I want to have with myself, with others, and with my life as a whole?

For Whom This Space Can Be Helpful

This form of guidance may be supportive if you are:

  • standing in front of an important decision,
  • experiencing a loss of orientation after changes such as separation, job loss, or shifts in relationships,
  • wanting to grow personally and relate to your emotions more clearly, without being overwhelmed by them,
  • interested in questions of meaning, responsibility, freedom, and the limits of control in life.

You do not need a “problem” to come. Curiosity, uncertainty, or a quiet sense that something wants attention is enough.

How We Work Together

The first session is a space for getting to know each other and for clarifying what brings you here. Sometimes a longer-term orientation emerges; at other times it feels right to take things session by session — especially when situations are complex or unclear.

Our work often involves slowing down. Instead of staying on the surface of a situation, we take time to look closely:

  1. first at the concrete facts and circumstances,
  2. then at emotional responses,
  3. then at your personal position: How do I relate to this? What matters to me here?
  4. and, if appropriate, at possible decisions and ways of acting.

Existential Analysis does not aim to take decisions away from you. Rather, it supports you in experiencing your own freedom and responsibility, even where life feels constricted or stuck.

Possible Shifts

People often arrive feeling stuck, fragmented, or internally tense. What may emerge over time is not necessarily certainty, but something quieter and more stable: a sense of inner clarity, renewed trust in one’s own perception, or a deeper access to joy and aliveness.

Sometimes this sounds like:

  • “I still don’t have all the answers, but I know where I stand now.”
  • “What happened no longer defines me in the same way.”
  • “I feel more present in my life again.”

Framework & Clarification

The Existential Analysis I offer is a form of counseling and live guidance. It does not replace medical or psychotherapeutic treatment and involves no diagnosis or healing promises.

Sessions take place in Berlin, at my place or online. As my first language is German, most sessions are held in German — English sessions are possible as well.

If you feel drawn to a space where thinking, feeling, and personal stance are taken seriously — without being pathologized — you are welcome to reach out.

An Invitation

Perhaps what is needed right now is not an answer, but a place where your questions can breathe.
